We Need A Syllable Limit

www.drunkenbleachers.com

The Anaheim Angels announced that they are changing their name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

According to team officials, the change was made as a long-term business strategy to attract fans and advertisers from the Los Angeles area. They forgot to take into account that fans won't want to root for a team with a 10 syllable name. A better solution would have been to just add an "e" to Angels and become the "Anaheim Angeles"--but anyway-- if this naming trend catches on, here are some team names that we might have to say in the future:

The New York Giants of East Rutherford New Jersey
The San Francisco Raiders of Oakland
The Texas Rangers of Arlington
The New England Patriots of Foxboro
The Phoenix Coyotes of Glendale
The Detroit Pistons of Auburn Hills
The Indiana Pacers of Indianapolis
The New York Yankees of the Bronx Borough of New York City

I could go on, but my fingers are getting tired.
