Bill Mueller's Career Could Be At Risk

It's never good to hear grim news about an old friend -- especially one who did more than his part to help the Red Sox win the 2004 World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers are reporting that Bill Mueller is "holding out hope", but after having knee surgery that did not improve his condition, his career could be "at risk":

"I'm bone on bone in three different places," said the 35-year-old Mueller, who underwent a third operation on the knee in May. "Right now, I can't even walk on it without it swelling up...I've been hoping for anything that helps."
