Hold on! This blog post was supposed to be about Curt Schilling's stellar outing, Coco's wicked catch and Hideki "
Darkman" Okajima's mystifying dominance. We were all supposed to go to bed happy. Instead, all I can say is
that game got away.
I don't honestly believe that Jonathan Papelbon is a super hero (although he could easily be mistaken for one.) Saves will be blown over the course of a long season. It just seemed as though something was...gulp...
wrong with Papelbon last night. The velocity of his fastball was 91-93 when it is usually 94-97. He was hittable. He didn't have good control of his pitches. He was human. Let's hope that it was just fatigue. (It might be an appropriate occasion to make an offering to the baseball gods "just in case.")
BTW: I
liked Don Orsillo's new blue outfit. I don't understand why Remy was ragging on him. I didn't see the alleged "white pants," but I thought the jacket was sharp.
BTW 2: Did anyone notice that the ball boy who interfered with the double off the bat of Mark Ellis in the top of the fifth was gone by the next inning? Dream job = over. Sorry kid.
